Meet the Staff

Natalie Roy
Executive Director

Natalie Roy has been at the helm of the Clean Water Network as Executive Director since May 2006. Prior to CWN, Natalie was the Executive Director of the National Pollution Prevention Roundtable, the largest national organization devoted solely to promoting pollution prevention and sustainability. She also served as Deputy Executive Director for the Environmental Council of the States in D.C., the association that represents state environmental commissioners. She began her environmental career in the early '80s, working for both Clean Water Action and the League of Conservation Voters. She has also worked as the Recycling Coordinator for the City of Takoma Park, Maryland and as a Recycling Planner for the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection. She is graduate of Duke University and currently sits on the Board of the Clean Beaches Council and the Violence Policy Center in D.C. Her past also includes producing and hosting a cable access television show on the environment, Green TV and the Green Show. Jennifer Peters
Policy Analyst

Jennifer joins the Clean Water Network staff as our new policy analyst. Her work and educational experiences have focused heavily on water and the issues surrounding the water resources of this country. Most recently Jennifer worked as a research assistant with the City of New York’s Park and Recreation department to develop a wetland monitoring protocol for New York City parks. During graduate school she received an EPA National Network for Environmental Management Studies (NNEMS) fellowship to conduct research on wetland restoration strategies at the U.S. EPA Region 2. Prior to graduate school, Jennifer served two years with the AmeriCorps Watershed Stewards Project and worked with the California Conservation Corps to protect and restore critical habitat for endangered and threatened Pacific salmon species. Jennifer earned a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science from Humboldt State University in 2002 and a Master’s Degree in Environmental Policy from the Bard Center for Environmental Policy at Bard College in 2007.

Gordon Culver
Fellow

Gordon is a rising senior at the George Washington University in Washington, D.C. He plans to graduate in the spring of 2009 with a double major in Geography and American Studies with a concentration on the urban and built environments. After school he is interested in pursuing a career in urban and regional development, especially transportation planning. Through his studies he has gained an acute awareness of the importance of promoting sustainable growth practices, especially in a country that continually opts for less sustainable methods. Gordon formerly interned in the map library at the National Geographic Society where he aided the librarian and other members of the map division with a wide range of different tasks.

Rebecca Hays
Fellow

Rebecca Hays is a rising junior at The George Washington University in Washington, DC. She plans to graduate in May of 2010 with a double major in Geography and Environmental Studies focusing on environmental conservation. Rebecca loves to travel and has already visited Kenya, Egypt and various countries in Europe. After graduation, Rebecca plans on taking time off to pursue her love of travelling and explore other countries around the world, particularly in South America. Through her time travelling, she hopes to gain a different perspective of environmental conservation techniques around the globe, while at the same time promoting proper sustainability. Rebecca also enjoys the outdoors and has participated in a GW field trip to Mason Neck, VA for a geomorphology class focusing on stream development and its degradation due to the human impact in the area.
