| Identifying Polluted Waters Toolkit |
|
Every two years, your state must identify rivers, streams, lakes and coastal waters that are too polluted to meet water quality standards. It must create a list of these waters (known as the 303(d) list) and submit that list to EPA for approval. The public gets a chance to comment on the draft list before it goes to EPA. Your next list is due October 1, 2002....now is the time to weigh in! Make sure the list represents reality. The impaired and threatened waters lists were due October 1...which states made the deadline? Check out the 303(d) list summary (provided by US EPA) to find out.
