Join the Clean Water Network Today! WHY JOIN THE CLEAN WATER NETWORK? Here are 6 good reasons to join us in our fight to strengthen and impliment federal clean water policy: 1) Be ready for action! We provide timely action alerts via email with information on fast breaking developments affecting clean water. Many activists find our alerts useful to send to their own members. 2) Make a clean water press splash! The Network coordinates local releases of clean water reports and other news events. We provide sample press materials, access to issue experts, and more. 3) Find the resources and trainings you need. The Network produces handbooks and toolkits on key clean water issues. We also provide trainings to help our members put the Clean Water Act to work at home. 4) Locate the best information and experts. You can call the Clean Water Network at any time for expert referrals and the latest information. We can send you materials on the issues that matter to you or give you an update over the phone. 5) Meet clean water activists and decision makers. The Network brings together clean water activists through our listserves, conference calls, and meetings. You can use the Network to find assistance and “network” with other groups facing the same challenges that you face. Conferences include comprehensive issue briefings, group meetings, and discussions with key officials. 6) Influence national clean water policy. The Network provides a forum for discussing strategy and policy issues. The Network then provides resources to help educate key decision makers. MEMBERSHIP IN THE CLEAN WATER NETWORK CWN welcomes membership by organizations that endorse our National Agenda for Clean Water. Membership is free for all non-profit organizations. Membership requires a minimum amount of participation by member groups. Over a 12-month period we ask that members raise awareness about clean water issues by doing as many activities on the following list as possible: - Generate phone calls and letters to your elected officials.
- Hold a town meeting with your elected officials.
- Attend a meeting with the editorial board of your local newspaper.
- Write a letter to the editor of your local paper.
- Hold a press conference.
- Tell other groups you work with locally about the Clean Water Network.
- Help formulate our Network-wide strategy by participating in one of our working groups.
- Send us a press clip that you have generated describing a local clean water issue.
We ask your help disseminating our clean water campaign message. Members can freely use information and sample materials that we distribute on our listservs or on our website (www.cleanwaternetwork.org). However, we ask that you do not share strategic communications outside of your organization unless we specifically request that you do so, or you first check with Clean Water Network staff.
