Arthur Feinstein
Arthur has worked on local, state and federal wetland regulatory and legislative issues for twenty-five years. Working for the Citizens Committee to Complete The Refuge in 1988, he helped expand the boundaries of the Don Edwards SF Bay National Wildlife Refuge by 20,000 acres, setting the groundwork for today’s exciting 18,000 acre South Bay Salt Pond Wetlands Restoration Project. As Executive Director of the Golden Gate Audubon Society for 13 years, he utilized grass-roots activism and litigation to preserve and restore many acres of wetlands and riparian habitats. He served on California Governor Wilson's Wetlands Consensus Group in the 1990s, helped draft the original San Francisco Estuary Project’s Conservation Management Plan and is currently a Board member of Friends of the Estuary and the Estuary Project Implementation Committee. He is currently Legislative Chair, and is past Chair, of the San Francisco Bay Joint Venture. Arthur currently works on the ecological restoration of San Francisco Bay’s closing military bases for Arc Ecology and on wetland issues for the Citizens Committee to Complete the Refuge.
