CWN Position:

The Clean Water Network urges Congress to strengthen and support legislation that addresses the impacts of climate change by significantly reducing emissions of greenhouse gases to the extent science tells us is needed. Climate change causes harmful impacts to water and other natural resources, including sea level rise and acidification of the oceans, declining snowpack, increased drought, more frequent extreme storm events, changes in timing and volume of flows in waterways, and warming of rivers, streams, lakes and estuaries. To specifically address these impacts on water resources, we support including in any such legislation provisions that would make appropriate investments in adaptation, protection, restoration, and conservation of freshwater and estuarine ecosystems, watersheds, coastal and marine ecosystems, and groundwater resources to address the effects of climate change.
