Bayou Preservation Association

Our Mission is to protect and restore the richness and diversity of our waterways through activism, advocacy, collaboration and education.

Activism: Bayou Preservation Association will respond to threats to our bayous and streams by grass-roots organizing, education, and promotion of alternatives to destructive channelization.

Advocacy: Bayou Preservation Association believes that there are viable, economically responsible alternatives to channelization for our region's storm water management, such as flood plain management and buy-out, regional detention basins, and natural models for stream bed modification.

Collaboration: Bayou Preservation Association is coordinating the clean up of area bayous, as well as planting trees along the banks of area bayous.

Education: Bayou Preservation Association provides information on bayous at festivals, seminars, professional meetings and through this website.
