Smart, Green and Clean: 21st Century Water Management in the Great Lakes: BIG SUCCESS
Clean Water Network held a very successful regional Great Lakes caucus in Buffalo, New York at the downtown Hyatt Regency, October 21-23. The event was co-sponsored by Citizens Campaign for the Environment with support from the NY Environmental Facilities Corporation. Major thanks to the C.S. Mott Foundation, Park Foundation and the Environmental Support Center for providing generous funding for the caucus. The Buffalo-Niagara Riverkeepers also provided critical volunteer support for which we are very appreciative.
The event focused on sustainable water management issues, and featured numerous sessions discussing effective policies and programs to prevent polluted run-off. The day and a half caucus explored policy solutions from the "top down" (federal programs and funding) and from the "ground up" (local programs).
An evening reception featured acclaimed local author Margaret Wooster. Attendees were also provided with an opportunity to go on a tour of Niagara Falls after the meeting adjourned on Friday the 23rd.
