CWN Submits Comments to EPA on Florida's Proposed Numeric Nutrient Standards

On April 28th, 2010 the Clean Water Network submitted comments to EPA on establishing numeric nutrient standards for Florida's waters. CWN urges EPA to adopt strong nutrient standards in Florida based on sound science and resist efforts to weaken numeric limits or delay their effective implementation. These standards are needed to protect Florida's environment and to make its surface waters safe for drinking, fishing, swimming and other uses. The adoption of strong numeric nutrient criteria in Florida could also serve as a national model for other states that are exploring adopting similar standards. While we strongly support EPA establishing numeric nutrient standards for Florida surface waters, we do have a number of concerns pertaining to certain portions of the standards proposal. The Network's complete comments are now online.
