List of Congressional Hearings on the Disaster in the Gulf of Mexico
The last several weeks have been busy on Capitol Hill. A number of different committeess from both sides of Congress have held hearings to discuss the Deep Horizon oil rig spill in the Gulf of Mexico that is currenlty pumping out over 200,000 gallons of crude oil in the Gulf every day. The hearings have focused on testimony from both industry executives and government officials. Some of the most notable people to appear at the Congressional hearings include the CEO of BP America Lamar McKay, Transocean President and CEO Steven Newman, Secretary of Homeland Security Janet Napolitano and Secretary of the Interior Ken Salazar.

Monitor & reduce environmental risks to marine and coastal ecosystems. The hearing will pay specific attention to the effects of toxins- including oil dispersants- and ocean acidification.

Examine issues surrounding the oil spill in the Gulf, including the impact on the economy and the environment. The committee expects to hear testimony from several corporations involved in the spill, including BP, Halliburton and Transocean. Witnesses will also include experts on the impacts to local economies, fisheries and tourism, as well as wildlife and natural resources. Senators from the coastal states are also expected to provide testimony.
