Valentines for America's Waterways

With Valentine’s Day just around the corner, America's waterways are in desperate need of some love.

Many of our cherished waterways are suffering from toxic pollution, sewage and industrial waste.  Right now the Environmental Protection Agency is setting new rules for protecting waters across the country. Send a valentine to the EPA today, and tell them how much you love your local waterways.

Visit Environment America's site to send a unique message to EPA Administrator Jackson.

Background: Right now, US EPA is planning a new initiative to restore the protections of the Clean Water Act to thousands of waterways across the country. Over the past decade, developers and other polluters used the courts to put protections for these waters in legal limbo- and then blocked any attempt by Congress to restore them.

Fortunately, EPA also has the authority to fix this problem. But with a hostile new Congress already threatening to clip the agency's wings, this new effort is unlikely to go forward unless we can show strong public support for clean water right now.
