Clean Water Network Board Member and American Rivers Clean Water Program Senior Director Katherine Baer was recently quoted in the Parade Magazine article "Scientists Investigate Freaky Fish." Ms. Baer was quoted as saying, "the intersex fish are like the canary in the coal mine. We see what’s happening to the fish, and the water they’re swimming in is the water we are drinking." Additionally, on February 2, the Washington Post included an article on the Anacostia River titled "Anacostia River shows decades-long failure to improve water quality, ecosystem." The article discusses the long battle environmentalists along with state, local and federal actors have waged to clean up the troubled urban waterway.
