Run for the Gulf 5K

Register today for the Run for the Gulf 5K benefiting the work of the Clean Water Network. The money raised from this event will support the Clean Water Network's Gulf Assistance Fund and the Gulf Restoration Network, a Clean Water Network member that works on issues surrounding the Gulf of Mexico in Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama and Florida. The race is scheduled for Friday, July 16th, 2010 at 7:30 pm at Bluemont Park in Arlington, VA.

Course

Registration
Participants may register online through July 16th at noon. Onsite registration will be accepted at the park from 6:00 pm - 7:30 pm (cash or check only) as space permits.
Pre-registration (before July 16th at noon): $25.
Onsite registration (race day after 6 pm): $30

For groups of 10 or more that wish to run as a team, we will put the group or organization's name in the program and on our website. You must register as individuals though.

Timing

Awards
Merchandise prizes to the top two overall M/F and top M/F in each of the following age groups: 0-10; 11-14; 15-19; 20-29; 30-39; 40-49; 50-59; 60+

Directions/Parking
The race starts and finishes near the tennis courts at Bluemont Park located at North Manchester and Wilson Boulevard. Limited parking is available at the lot located adjacent to the tennis pavilion. Additional parking is available across the street at the rose garden and at the Bluemont Park parking lot located at 339 N Manchester at the southern point of the park. Parking is limited; please carpool if driving.

Weather and Safety Policy
In the event of extreme weather conditions, the race organizers reserve the right to cancel the race or run it as an untimed "Fun Run" without advance notice.

If this should be necessary:

  • Participants will receive premiums (in accordance with registration policies)
  • Prizes will be converted to random prizes
  • No entry-fee refunds will be made

The final decision regarding the conduct of the race will be made between 6:30 pm and 7:30 pm the evening of the race and will be announced over the race public address system.

Frequently Asked Questions
May I pick up a packet for friends or family?
Yes, you may pick up a packet for someone else. Please just alert them that you will be picking up their packet.

May I register during packet pick up?
Yes, you can as space permits. lease note that on race day we only accept checks and cash.

May I wear headphones during the run?
Yes, however, you are responsible for being aware of your surroundings.

May I run with a stroller?
Due to the size of the trail, we do not allow strollers.

May I run with my dog?
Pets are not allowed in the 5K, but gentle ones are welcome to watch.

Will there be a water stop?
Yes. Look for them halfway through the race.

What is your refund policy?
Unfortunately, there are no refunds for this event. We also do not accept transfers or deferments for this event.

Is there a baggage drop?
Yes. Bag drop is located near registration.

Is there a time cutoff for the event?
You must be able to finish the 5K course in 60 minutes.
