Last Call to the Oasis: Major Movie on Global Water Crisis to be released this fall
A major movie on the world's water crisis will be out this fall. It is being unveiled at the Toronto International Film festival this coming week. The movie is being produced and directed by the same people who brought us all Inconvenient Truth and Food Inc. Academy Award winning director Jessica Yu has teamed up with Elisa Pearlstein from Food Inc to direct, what is sure to become, an award winning documentary. New Report Calls for Federal Action to Improve Flood Protection, Other Policies in Face of Climate Change
Yesterday Clean Water Network member organization American Rivers released Weathering Change: Policy Reforms That Save Money and Make Communities Safer. This new report examines the intersection between water management, climate change adaptation, and federal policy.
Kerry-Lieberman Community Adaptation Sign-On letter
Attached is a draft sign-on letter urging senators to support community water infrastructure adaptation as an essential component of comprehensive climate and energy legislation. The letter also calls for direct funding to states and municipalities to help upgrade and adapt critical water infrastructure to a more volatile and uncertain climate. CWN at Energy and Climate Change Conference
CWN Executive Director Natalie Roy joined Walter McLeod from EcoCapitol LLC, Monique Dawson and other activists at the "Energy and Climate Change: Economic Implications and Opportunities" conference being held on Thursday, January 28th, 2010. This landmark Summit attracted leaders from prominent national organizations representing minorities and vulnerable populations in a dialogue aimed at developing a set of principles to be presented to key policy officials in Washington and around the country on climate change.

Global Warming and Water Workgroup Updating Compendium of Climate Change and Water Case Studies
CWN's Climate change and water workgroup has been updating its national compendium of climate change and water case studies over the past few months. CWN is particularly interested in innovative approaches that have been applied on the ground to reduce the impact of global warming on water resources. We are also interested in receiving copies local ordinances and state water and energy efficiency & pollution prevention initiatives that are specifically targeted at reducing water quality and quantity impacts from global warming.
CWN Urges Officials to Raise the Profile of Water in Climate Change Discussion
On December 11, 2009, the Clean Water Network sent a letter to Mr. Todd Stern, leader and special envoy of the official US delegation to the United Nations Conference of Parties (COP) 15, urging him to vigorously raise the profile of the issue of water during official deliberations. CWN is concerned by what appears to be a short-sighted attitude towards addressing water concerns in the context of the climate change debate.
