Clean Water Act, 39 Years Young!
Help celebrate 39 years of the CWA and ensure at least 39 more by becoming part of the Clean Water Network's Power of Water Campaign!
Thirty-nine years ago, the Clean Water Act, one of the nation's landmark environmental statutes, was enacted into law. Before the Clean Water Act many rivers, lakes and streams were treated like open sewers. States and cities were forced in the race to the bottom and famously some rivers even caught on fire. Today, due to the passage of the Clean Water Act much has improved and many of our water bodies are less polluted. We are indebted to the visionaries responsible for crafting this pillar of environmental legislation.
