CWN 2011 Dirty Water Voting Chart

The link below is to CWN's chart for US House of Representatives clean/dirty water votes this past year. If a member voted 50% or higher in support of clean water, they received a blue water drop. If they registered 49% or lower then a brown water droplet is in their column.  If you click on the droplet you will get all of the details on their votes and those of their House colleagues categorized by state. We will continue to update this chart.

This summer, the Clean Water Network sent a letter to the U.S. Senate, urging all Senators to vote no on H.R. 2018, the Clean Water Cooperative Federalism Act and to oppose all other dirty water bills and riders that come before the Senate floor for action.

Happy Birthday, Clean Water Act!

Clean Water Act, 39 Years Young!

Help celebrate 39 years of the CWA and ensure at least 39 more by becoming part of the Clean Water Network's Power of Water Campaign!

Thirty-nine years ago, the Clean Water Act, one of the nation's landmark environmental statutes, was enacted into law. Before the Clean Water Act many rivers, lakes and streams were treated like open sewers. States and cities were forced in the race to the bottom and famously some rivers even caught on fire. Today, due to the passage of the Clean Water Act much has improved and many of our water bodies are less polluted. We are indebted to the visionaries responsible for crafting this pillar of environmental legislation.

Dirty Water Bills Will Take Us Back to Pre-Clean Water Act Days

There is an assault taking place on Capitol Hill and across the states to weaken laws that keep our drinking water and waterways clean. It is important that decision makers know that supporting anti-environmental legislation will turn back the clock to times of dirtier rivers, lakes, streams and coastal areas. Read an opinion piece Natalie Roy penned  regarding onerous legislation that is being debated on Capitol Hill.
